Cure Guardian is a nonprofit founded to support researchers and
investors in biotech companies that are subjected to
internet accusations, investigations by government entities,
complaints issued to medical publications or other
attempts by 3rd parties to slow down the pursuit of cures for
disease.
Cure Guardian protects the pursuit of cures of diseases by helping
researchers stay focused on their pursuit of cures
by defending them against accusations by 3rd parties.
Cure Guardian was founded by Matthew Nachtrab and the shareholders of Cassava Sciences who witnessed an unprecedented attack by short sellers to stop their FDA approved clinical trials for their drug Simufilam. The short sellers were successful in this campaign by leveraging an attorney (Jordan Thomas) to walk them into the SEC and DOJ and kickstart investigations. These outsiders should not be able to weaponize the government and institution investigative divisions against researchers and companies.
Additionally, these short sellers waged a campaign of investigation requests against all the publications of the researcher that created the Investigative drug, Hoau-Yan Wang of CUNY. He was left ostracized by his peers, his institution, and his collaborators as a result of the accusations. Most researchers do not make salaries high enough to effectively defend themselves against organizations.
Cure Guardian will implement this mission using the following tools:
Advocate for changes to the accusation process at the various entities to help insure enough evidence is provided by the individuals or entities submitting their concerns. Including in this is the addition of a conflict of interest check and guidelines for deciding if the investigation will be pursued.
Hire legal advisors to pursue individuals and assists in getting government agencies to prioritize the investigations against individuals that are harassing researchers and entities online, making complaints against researchers or et notices to create investigations, or interfering or disrupting the pursuit of cures in any way.
Eventually if enough funds are raised and resources are available at Cure Guardian, assist and help defend researchers that are accused of wrongdoing in their research process.
